The inference relies on the simultaneous validation of three transition/deletion markers to resolve the phenotypic blood group.
Identifies the 'O' allele deletion — a single-base deletion causing a frameshift and a non-functional enzyme.
When both copies carry this deletion, the result is blood type O.
Distinguish A and B alleles by detecting nucleotide transitions that alter enzyme substrate specificity.
Together they determine whether a functional allele produces the A or B antigen.
Resolves A, B, AB, and O groups from raw genotype data.
Each marker call is validated for completeness and allele quality before the final inference.
The three-marker model resolves the common A, B, and O1 patterns. Rare O alleles and other ABO subtypes can require full gene sequencing, and Rh positive or negative is a separate blood-group system.
