Technical Background

ABO Blood Type Inference from Genetic Raw Data

This module analyses the ABO locus on Chromosome 9, validating three critical transition/deletion markers to resolve your phenotypic blood group.

01

Target Locus

This module executes a targeted analysis of the ABO locus on Chromosome 9.

The inference logic relies on the simultaneous validation of three critical transition/deletion markers to resolve the phenotypic blood group.

02

Marker rs8176719

Identifies the 'O' allele deletion. A single base deletion (G) at this position causes a frameshift resulting in a non-functional enzyme.

When both copies carry this deletion, the result is blood type O.

03

Markers rs8176746 & rs8176747

Distinguishes between A and B alleles by detecting specific nucleotide transitions that alter enzyme substrate specificity.

These two markers work together to determine whether a functional allele produces the A or B antigen.

04

Reporting Scope

Resolves A, B, AB, and O groups from raw genotype data.

Each marker call is validated for completeness, allele quality, and expected genotype patterns before the final inference is made.
